Herbert Holt Park features include a children's only fishing stream, the William C. Stevens Handicap Accessible Fishing Pier, the Gatlinburg Trout Facility, a covered pavilion which seats 128 individuals, picnic tables, sinks and grills, playground, and restrooms.

Herbert Holt Park provides recreational opportunities at the northern entrance to Gatlinburg. Nestled alongside the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River, this park is home to some of the Recreation Department's most unique offerings.

Recent Renovations

Gatlinburg's Herbert Holt Park reopened to the public on Thursday, December 21. The improvements project included major renovations for the Park, which is a popular fishing spot among citizens and visitors. As part of the Herbert Holt Park Improvements Project the playground equipment was replaced, fencing and landscaping was replaced around the playground area, and parking and traffic flow improvements were made. Renovations were also made at the pavilion and restroom areas in the Park. Additionally, major improvements were made in the Park along the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River. The riverbank has been stabilized and improved access to the river has been provided. Two new sets of steps leading to the river were installed and the existing ADA ramp leading to the William C. Stevens handicap fishing pier was renovated.

At Herbert Holt Park is the Gatlinburg Trout Facility, which is the only publicly run facility of its type in Tennessee. Through this program, the Recreation Department grows trout in its raceways and then stocks those fish in the West Prong to help facilitate fishing in the area. Trout are released every Thursday and since the program began in 1981, the City has stocked over 1.3 million fish into the river. The City is also proud of its unique handicap-accessible fishing pier, named after former Mayor and City Commissioner Bill Stevens, who was an avid outdoorsman who had a vision for this pier to help aid everyone in fishing.

The Park is also home to the City's greenhouse, which is maintained and operated by the Recreation Department. This greenhouse is where all the beautiful flowers, plants, and shrubs that make Gatlinburg beautiful are grown and maintained. The Recreation Department also places these flowers and plants around the City.

The City of Gatlinburg provides free usage of the pavilions to Gatlinburg residents.
